MEET THE FOUNDER
Shaz Khan is the successful Founder and Director of Sheffield School of Bollywood, which she opened at the age of 25 years old in October 2021. She specialises in modern, semi-classical, hip hop and alternative styles of Bollywood dancing. She is a qualified Level 2 Personal Trainer and Zumba Dance Instructor. She is currently pursuing a PhD evaluating how to sustain independence in older people. She co-founded the University of Bradford’s Bollywood Dance Society and has performed with organisations such as Punjabi Roots Academy and Bespoke the Dance Company.
During her time studying for her Masters in London, Shaz has danced and practised with reputable organisations such as BollyFlex, London School of Bollywood and the Bollywood Company. She first started teaching dance in 2017 at the University of Bradford and progressed with leading workshops for Punjabi Roots Academy, Bollywood Magic London and now Sheffield School of Bollywood.
She moved back to Sheffield during the COVID lockdown and wanted to add to the Bollywood culture within the North of England, which she believed to be quite limited.
Shaz’s mother has been the beating heart of her journey as she has consistently encouraged her to perform at various venues growing up. Shaz has named the motto of the company ‘Ignite the Fire Within’ as she believes everyones inner spark comes to life when we dance.
